Who We Are

ISAKOS exists to advance the worldwide exchange and dissemination of education, research, and patient care in arthroscopy, knee surgery, and orthopaedic sports medicine. At our core, we are a global community of surgeons committed to learning from one another so that patients everywhere can benefit from the very best care.

Today, ISAKOS brings together 4,000+ members representing more than 100 countries and regions. This diversity of perspectives, experiences, and practice environments strengthens everything we do, allowing knowledge to move freely across borders and healthcare systems.

A Global Platform for Shared Expertise

Formed in 1995 through the merger of the International Arthroscopy Association (IAA) and the International Society of the Knee (ISK), ISAKOS was built on the belief that collaboration accelerates progress. From its beginning, the Society has served as a unifying international forum, connecting surgeons, educators, and researchers who share a commitment to excellence.

ISAKOS works in close partnership with regional and national orthopaedic societies around the world. By aligning shared goals and combining strengths, these collaborations expand access to education, foster innovation, and elevate standards of care globally.
