Abstract
Chronic ankle instability may cause significant problems. In cases of conservative treatment failure, operative reconstruction may be indicated.
We present 26 consecutive patients after ATFL reconstruction with fascia lata allograft and CFL tensioning. A detailed technique is presented. All patients had US after 3 and 6 weeks and MRI after 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months. Detailed rehabilitation protocol is presented. We are documenting the graft remodelling process as well as the clinical outcome.
This type of reconstruction is a reliable and reproducible method of reconstruction. However, graft remodelling is much longer than usually assumed and lasts almost a year.
