To discuss the factors that inform clinicians decision on how to best treat different patterns of meniscus tears. In all symptomatic tears the treating surgeon has the option to manage it non-operatively, resect all or part of the meniscus, or repair the tear. Each speaker will examine these options in light of the scientific literature and their own experience, and present their algorithm and surgical tips for how they approach each specific type of meniscus tear and patient.

To allow audience and faculty interactive discussion around how to best manage different meniscus tears and scenarios, using the faculty presentations and case examples as discussion generators.

Moderator: John P. Fulkerson, MD UNITED STATES

The chondral defects of patella are unique, and the treatment strategies are based not only on the type of the cartilage defect but also on the very complicated patellofemoral biomechanics. A cartilage lesion present elsewhere may need a different treatment protocol as compared to the same type of cartilage lesion present in patella, largely due to biomechanics. In recent times, 3D printing has added lots of new information to what we already know. This new 3D printed based information helps us to understand PF biomechanics better. It is also important to understand that chondral lesions of patella due to patella instability are different than the chondral lesions of patella occurring due to patellofermoal overload. This ICL aims to improve understanding of PF biomechanics based on 3D printing technology. Further ICL discusses treatment options of focal chondral defects of patella occurring due to acute dislocation, due to instability and due to chronic PF overload. A case presentation follows to discuss what we learn during the ICL.

The delegates should be able to understand the importance of biomechanics and how to change the treatment protocol in presence of different case scenario.

The posterolateral Corner is often called as the dark side of the knee. The reason for the same being is that there still remains some disparity in the diagnosis and then in the accurate management in the injuries to the posterolateral Corner. This ICL aims at demystifying a lot of the current controversial issues and problems associated with diagnosis and treatment if the posterolateral injuries.
