The emerging technology of robotics in TKA has been one of the hottest topics in knee replacement over the last few years, with advocates arguing for improved surgical precision, outcomes and efficiencies, whereas others see little if any benefit over traditional techniques, and with vastly increased unsustainable costs. In this debate, Professor Fares Haddad from England and Dr. Daniel Wascher from the USA will take opposing sides. Professor Haddad has a large experience in robotic surgery and will be seeking to convince the audience that Robotics is indeed a game changer for TKA. Dr. Wascher is an incredibly experienced knee arthroplasty surgeon who has witnessed and been very involved in the evolution of TKA surgery for several decades and will take the opposing view.
Each speaker will have time for their main presentation, followed by a brief opportunity for rebuttal, followed by an opportunity for the audience to ask questions. The goal of this session is to provide the audience with both sides of the story in this important discussion, in order to form their own balanced opinion to help inform the question as to whether robotics should play a role in their TKR practice.
