Dr. Magdalena Tarchala is dual-fellowship trained Paediatric Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Surgeon. She completed her Orthopaedic surgical residency at McGill University before pursuing the prestigious Paediatric Orthopaedic fellowship at SickKids Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. She was internationally selected by Harvard University to obtain a second fellowship focusing on Paediatric Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital in Massachusetts. By training with the foremost surgeons in these fields, she has honed an extensive skillset specialized in minimally invasive techniques focused on joint preservation and ligament reconstruction from infants to young adults. Dr. Tarchala is experienced in working with athletes of all ages and disciplines. She has worked as a team physician at the high school, collegiate and professional level, as well as mass participation events such as the Boston Marathon. She has extensive experience in sport specific injury prevention, multi-disciplinary rehabilitation including the psychological effect on the injured athlete, and sex-specific sports injuries. She participates in many multi-national committees focused on care of the female adolescent athlete. Dr. Tarchala balances her clinical activities with an active commitment to advancing the field through numerous peer-reviewed publications, international presentations, and involvement with multiple international organizations.
