Vasileios Giannatos is a 27 yearold, second year resident in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in Patras University Hospital with great interest in sports medicine, adult reconstruction and biomechanics. He is a member of the Hellenic Arthroscopy Society, ESSKA and ISAKOS. He has completed the Team Sports Physician Diploma by Barca Innovation Hub, the Team Physician Course by the International Olympic Committee, the AO Basic Principles of Fracture Management and will complete the AO basic principle of total hip and knee reconstruction in September 2024. He has currently completed his second year of his Masters Degree in Metabolic Bone Diseases in National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Medical School and he is a PhD candidate in total hip arthroplasty biomechanics, studying stem subsidence in Sawbones and clinical gait analysis in short stems in collaboration with the Physiotherapy and Mechanical Engineer Departments of University of Patras. In 2021 he completed a two-month internship in the Orthopaedics and Traumatology University Clinic of Bonn in Germany, a renowned center for revision arthroplasties, mentoring next to renowned Prof. Dieter Wirtz. In 2017 he completed a one month internship in the University Oncology Clinic in Omsk, Russia. He has already 13 PubMed indexed publications, 6 of which as a first name, and two more currently under publication. He is currently a reviewer at Journal of Experimental Orthopedics and Cureus having completed 9 reviews. He is the co-author of a book about special tests in orthopaedics in Greek. He participates in one project with research grant ‘’Phenotyping rare diseases in Greece’’, studying the whole genome of patients with exostosis in Greece. He has presented orally four papers in Hellenic congresses (9th Congress of the Hellenic Arthroscopy Society and the 2022 EEXOT congress) and more than ten posters, while he boasts two oral presentation in international conferences (36th FIMS and ISAKOS 2021) and three posters in international congress (21st ESSKA 2024). He is an invited speaker in distal radius osteoporotic fractures in the upcoming panhellenic osteoporosis congress of HELIOS. He was a volunteer Doctor in the Mediterranean Beach Games held in Patras in 2019. He has completed the BLS, ATLS, BSS courses and he has attended numerous congresses and webinars of ESSKA, ISAKOS and other Greek societies. He speaks German (C1) and English (C2) fluently. Apart from the above, he has attended a major amount of webinars and courses on orthopedics and traumatology. He is efficient with informatic systems as he holds the ECDL Advanced and Photoshop certifications and basic skills with statistics and SPSS. Orthopedics and research is his passion.
