Andrew Ames, DO, is an orthopedic specialist practicing at Orthopedic Specialists of Oakland County, located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. His clinical interests include the management of shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee injuries and regenerative orthopedics. Dr. Ames is an active physician-scientist who is passionate about advancing the practice of sports medicine through scholarly work. His research interests include joint preservation and injury prevention, surgical implant design, and advancing joint restoration and reconstruction techniques. He is currently studying expanding indications for shoulder replacement implants and stratifying patient outcomes based on the surgical indication. Dr. Ames has authored a textbook chapter on knee cartilage injury and rehabilitation and previously won research awards for his work in ankle ligament injury diagnosis and repair. He has been an invited speaker at several national meetings and serves as a clinical reviewer numerous orthopedic journals. He is honored to have been awarded the Dr. Mark Steiner Research Award.
