Michaela Kopka, MD, FRCSC, DipSportMed

Dr. Kopka is an orthopaedic surgeon practicing in Banff, Alberta, with a focus on knee and shoulder reconstruction. She completed her orthopaedic residency training at the University of Calgary. She then pursued a Fellowship in Sport Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, followed by an AO Trauma Fellowship at King Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. Her research interests include anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, patellofemoral instability, and osteotomy about the knee. She is the Director of Education and Fellowships at the Banff Sport Medicine Centre, and serves as the Fellowship Director for the Arthroscopy Association of Canada. She is also the current Chief Medical Officer for the Canada Snowboard National team. Her spare time is dedicated to her family - including two young children - and exploring the Rocky Mountains on skis and by bike.
