2025 ISAKOS Congress in Munich, Germany

Going Green Together

ISAKOS believes that we all have a part to play in preserving our future for generations to come, both locally and across the globe.

At the 2025 ISAKOS Congress, we think everyone has a role to play in maintaining a healthy and sustainable ecosystem. And even small actions matter! Therefore, we’ve taken steps to make the Congress more environmentally friendly.

ISAKOS 2025 and the Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs, also called the Global Goals) are 17 goals with 169 targets that all UN Member States have agreed to work toward achieving by 2030. They set out a plan for a world without poverty, hunger, and disease.

For ISAKOS 2025 want to contribute to the achievement of these objectives in our value chain. We support and work toward the following SDGs:

Contributions You Can Make as an ISAKOS 2025 Delegate

As individuals and as a community, we can and should individually contribute to protecting the earth and its natural systems and resources and to sustaining the natural ecological balance of the ecosystem. Here is what we encourage you to do during the ISAKOS Congress:

  • Use the mobile app to inquire about the program details
  • Reduce the waste you generate and separate disposal
  • Opt for reusable mugs and bottles
Sustainability Development Goal Possible Initiatives

End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

What we are doing:

  • More sustainable catering with the focus on healthier options, more vegetables and fruit, local and seasonal food sourcing.
  • Menus will include vegetarian and vegan options.
  • All food & beverage utensils will be reusable or compostable

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Our top priority is to make high-quality education available to our community. Our goals include eliminating educational gaps between genders; providing more accessible conference options; and enhancing the quality of the scientific program

What we are doing:

  • High-Quality Scientific Program – Carefully crafted by an international team of experts. We aim to constantly improve the session formats, introduce new relevant topics and invite the best international experts.
  • Promoting Sustainable Development – We enquire and opt for more sustainable options from our vendors, openly communicate our efforts to do better, and encourage our partners and participants to reduce their footprint too.
  • At the beginning of 2020, Messe München switched to using electricity generated exclusively from renewable sources and thus took a further step towards carbon-neutral and sustainable trade fairs. The photovoltaic system on the roofs of the row of B exhibition halls contributes to the supply of green electricity on the exhibition grounds.
  • Close cooperation with exhibitors is essential, which is why the venue has developed a set of waste prevention guidelines for exhibitors (and their stand builders) offering recommendations on how to avoid waste at trade fairs and reduce CO2 emissions.
  • Encouraging delegates to use Munich public transport by offering them the possibility of buying Munich Metro Ticket during their registration.
  • Gender diverse and balanced faculty to ensure inclusivity and diverse perspectives.
  • Creating a welcoming and accepting environment for all participants, regardless of sex, gender, nationality, race, color, age, or physical disability.

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
We recognize the environmental impact that large-scale events like can have, so sustainable production and consumption are one of our top priorities in organizing the ISAKOS 2025 Congress. We are working with our suppliers to ensure maximum positive change.

What we are doing in:

  • We are limiting printed promotional materials in favor of digital alternatives.
  • We encourage all of our exhibitors to participate in this initiative by reducing single-use giveaways at their booths.
  • Water consumption with no single plastic use, as well as ask the participants to bring their own bottles.
  • Close cooperation with exhibitors is essential, which is why the venue has developed a set of waste prevention guidelines for exhibitors (and their stand builders) offering recommendations on how to avoid waste at trade fairs and reduce CO2 emissions.
  • We work with our local catering partner to ensure the use of local and seasonal products, to reduce the transportation footprint of the Congress.
