Dr. Stephanie Wong is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California San Francisco. Her clinical expertise includes hip arthroscopy for hip preservation, as well as endoscopic and open hip gluteal tendon and proximal hamstring repair surgeries. She also specializes in arthroscopic and open surgeries for shoulder and knee injuries such as ACL ruptures, meniscus tears, rotator cuff injury, and shoulder instability. She has published numerous articles on her research, including studies on ACL injuries, rotator cuff tears, and outcomes for patients after hip arthroscopy and shoulder replacement surgery. Her research focus is on understanding and addressing disparities in orthopaedic surgery and how sex and gender affect musculoskeletal injury and surgical outcomes. She is the fellowship director for the UCSF Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship and serves as the co-director of the UCSF Women's Sports Medicine Center. Dr. Wong earned her medical degree at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, graduating with election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at UCSF and fellowship training in orthopedic surgery sports medicine at Rush University Medical Center. She is the team physician for UC Berkeley Cal Men’s Basketball team as well as high school football teams in the Bay Area. She was assistant team doctor for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago Steel. She enjoys skiing, exploring national parks, and spending time with her sheepdog and family.
