Professor Hui is an accomplished NUS clinician-scientist, and a director of NUHS’s Tissue Engineering and Cell Therapy Laboratory. He specializes in the management of orthopaedic problems in children, including general orthopaedics. He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at NUS, as well as clinical and basic science research. His main research interests include the healing articular cartilage defects using stem cells. With 22 years’ experience of in vitro and translational cartilage research, he has published 119 papers in international-refereed scientific journals, and is a member of numerous professional societies including the Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.
