Charles A. Popkin, MD specializes in pediatric, adolescent and adult sports medicine, with an emphasis on the operative and nonoperative treatment of complex knee pathology. He is an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Columbia University/ New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York, New York. His clinical interests in the knee specifically involve primary and revision reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament, patellar instability, articular cartilage injury, osteochondritis dissecans, meniscal tears and recalcitrant patellar tendinopathy. Dr. Popkin is passionate about youth sports and has dedicated a large part of his academic efforts to treating and preventing injury in developing athletes. He has also devoted significant effort to the prevention, management and treatment of injuries in ice hockey. He is a team physician for USA Hockey, and also serves on USA Hockey’s National Safety and Protective Equipment Committee.
