João V. Novaretti, MD, PhD is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in knee and sports medicine care. He completed medical school in 2012 and orthopaedic surgery residency in 2016, both at the Federal University of São Paulo. He obtained his Master degree during residency in 2016 at the same institution. He completed his sports medicine fellowship training at the Federal University of São Paulo in 2017. He was a research fellow at the University of Pittsburgh for one year (2017-2018) where he developed his PhD thesis study. He earned his PhD degree in 2019 at the Federal University of São Paulo. His clinical practice is focused on all sports knee injuries, and his current research interest includes knee ligament and cartilage injuries, meniscal repair, meniscal extrusion, and meniscal transplantation.
