Dr Shammas B M is consultant orthopedic surgeon specialized in Arthroscopy and joint preservation at Al Arif hospital and IOTS Trivandrum and Travancore Medical College, Kollam. He has over 15 years of experience in Arthroscopy and sports medicine. His areas of interest include Knee Arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, Meniscal repair, Cartilage procedures, Meniscal transplant, knee joint preservation surgeries, wrist, ankle and hip arthroscopy. He is involved in research in ACL anatomy including triple bundle reconstruction and meniscal reconstruction. He is a member of ISAKOS, ICRS, IAS and KOA. He has served as faculty for several State and National Arthroscopy training programmes. He has developed a wet knee simulator model called Arthroknee as a viable and more readily available alternative to cadaveric training in knee arthroscopy. He is founder director of ARTHROLEARN, an educational initiative which conducts hands on arthroscopy training workshops for upcoming arthroscopic surgeons. He is the course director of the TRIVANDRUM ARTHROSCOPY COURSE which is conducted annually at Kerala, India.
