Justin S. Yang, MD

Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center
Los Angeles, CA UNITED STATES

I am originally from Houston, Texas. I attended Rice University and received my bachelor's degree in biomedical egineering. At Rice, I played collegiate soccer and became interested in sports medicine. After graduating, I attended medical school at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where I also met my wife who is an internal medicine physician at Kaiser Permanente Glendale Medical Offices. I then went on to complete a residency in orthopedic surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, where I was involved in taking care of the St. Louis Rams football team and the St. Louis Blues hockey team. I then had an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the University of Connecticut, where I helped to care for the NCAA champion men and women's basketball team, along with the football, hockey, and soccer teams. I specialize in treating injury and instability of the shoulder and knee, often as a result of a sports-related injury. This typically involves conditions such as ACL and PCL tears, shoulder dislocations, labrum tears, cartilage defects, multi-ligament injuries of the knee, and meniscus tears. I also treat athletic conditions of the elbow, hip and ankle. Additionally, I care for patients with rotator cuff problems and perform shoulder replacement procedures in older individuals. I am trained in both arthroscopic and open reconstruction techniques. I work closely with the nonoperative primary care sports medicine team to get our athletes back onto the field, and our patients back to their recreational activities and normal function.
