Dear ISAKOS members,
We are just an inch away from another unforgettable ISAKOS congress, this time held in the beautiful city of Munich, Germany. Over 3700 attendees gathered this time, including hundreds of renowned faculty members, to participate in a spectacular scientific program which included over 200 scientific sessions. These sessions included symposia, ICLs, surgical demonstrations, debates, "Meet-The-Expert" and "Global case-based" discussions.
During the congress, as the editorial team of the ISAKOS eNewsletter, we were delighted to moderate the first "ISAKOS eNewsletter session". During this session which was held on the third day of the congress, we presented the transition made this year in the society's 27-years old printed Newsletter to become a digital online platform after 30 years since the foundation of ISAKOS. We explained how this new platform of the newsletter which is termed "ISAKOS eNewsletter" is now designed to fulfill ISAKOS mission by providing "EVOLVING OPEN ACCESS ONLINE DIGITAL PLATFORM DELIVERING EFFICIENTLY RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE IN ORTHOPEDIC SPORTS MEDICINE WORLD-WIDE." During this eNewsletter session, the authors of the top 3 current perspective Newsletter articles which were selected by the editorial board from all current perspective articles published in the ISAKOS Newsletter issues between the ISAKOS meeting in Boston 2023 and until the ISAKOS meeting in Munich, presented their work and provided their future directions. Each winner received the "ISAKOS Newsletter Top Current Perspective Award". These presentations were related to AI technology in knee arthrosplasty, presented by Dr. Sam Oussedik from the UK, Peroneus Longus graft option for ACL reconstruction, presented by Dr. Andre Giardino Moreira da Silva from Brazil, and the use of ortho-biologics in sports medicine, presented by Dr. George Jacob from Australia. These presentations are available to you all as 3-minute videos by simply logging into the ISAKOS eNewlsletter on the Global Link hub. A live Podcast recording concluded the eNewsletter session in the congress, during which Dr. Denny Lie from Singapore as the author of a selected current perspective article was interviewed by our deputy editor, Dr. Nikolaos Paschos from the USA, discussing Dr. Denny Lie's group research about a novel approach for quantifying shoulder kinematics. This Podcast summarizes the fascinating current perspective article which appears in this issue so please dive into this article and see how the future of clinical evaluation of the shoulder may look like in "The Global Arc of Motion (GAM): A novel and Intuitive Way of Studying Clinical Shoulder Kinematics."
Please take the time to read the five current perspective articles in this issue and watch the 5-in-1 quick show videos that accompany each article. With these 90 second videos you will be able to easily and efficiently grasp the main message of each article.
In this issue, please try your best to complete as quickly as possible the "Quick-Quiz". The first ISAKOS member to answer correctly the quiz, will be invited for a Podcast interview and be acknowledged on this eNewsletter platform thereafter.
Please stay tuned to the ISAKOS eNewsletter as new digital features will be launched on this evolving platform in the near future. Enjoy this efficient way of delivering knowledge and consider this one of your knowledge acquisition pillars as you advance through your career.
Sincerely yours,
