Dear ISAKOS Members,
It is with immense pride and gratitude that I highlight a truly historic milestone for our community. This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the Journal of ISAKOS (JISAKOS). Since launching in 2016 as the official journal of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, our mission has been clear: to deliver world-class, evidence-based clinical science to orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, and traumatologists across the globe. Reflecting on the past decade, our growth has been nothing short of remarkable. Thanks to your groundbreaking submissions, rigorous peer reviews, and dedicated readership, JISAKOS has established itself as a premier global forum.
As we celebrate this decade of excellence, I want to highlight a few key achievements that define our journey:
- Record-Breaking Academic Impact: Our scientific influence continues to rise, recently achieving an all-time high Impact Factor of 3.7 alongside a CiteScore of 4.6. In addition, JISAKOS has established itself as a Q1-ranked journal in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, achieving Q1 status in both SCImago/Scopus and Clarivate’s Journal Citation Reports. This is a testament to the high-caliber research our authors trust us to publish.
-
Global Access via Open Access: Our 2022 transition to a fully Gold Open Access model completely transformed our reach. Today, every piece of research we publish is permanently and freely accessible to healthcare providers worldwide, breaking down barriers to medical education and knowledge translation.
-
Exceptional Reviewers and Elite Reviewers: The strength of JISAKOS is built not only on the quality of the research we publish, but also on the expertise and dedication of our peer reviewers. We are particularly proud of our Elite Reviewer Program, which recognizes and celebrates those who consistently demonstrate exceptional commitment to the peer-review process. Their contributions are an essential part of JISAKOS’s continued growth and success, and we extend our sincere gratitude to every reviewer who has contributed to the journal over the past 10 years.
-
Empowering Global Researchers: Through our Excellence in Authorship Program, we have successfully expanded our mentorship to clinical researchers in low- and middle-income countries. Moving into its second term this year, this initiative ensures that diverse, global perspectives shape the future of our field.

- An Evolving Editorial Board: Growth requires renewal, and we are thrilled to welcome fresh leadership into our next chapter, including Dr. Volker Musahl as Deputy Editor. I also want to extend our deepest gratitude to previous leaders, including original Editor-in-Chief, Dr. C. Niek van Dijk, and Associate Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Vikas Khanduja, whose years of dedication helped build the foundation we stand on today.
I also want to recognize our outstanding Associate Editors who bring expertise across the broad spectrum of arthroscopy, knee surgery, sports medicine, and orthopaedic trauma, helping to ensure the scientific quality, relevance, and integrity of every issue. Their commitment to thoughtful peer review, mentorship of authors, and advancement of evidence-based orthopaedic care is instrumental to the journal’s continued growth.
This 10-year anniversary is not just a celebration of a journal; it is a celebration of you—our global community of authors, reviewers, and readers who push the boundaries of musculoskeletal medicine every day to improve patient care.
Thank you for an incredible first decade. Together, we look forward to advancing orthopaedic science for many more years to come.
Warmest regards,
Dr. Olufemi R. Ayeni, JISAKOS Editor-in-Chief
