Prof. Dr. Daniel Guenther is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in knee surgery at Cologne-Merheim Medical Center, Germany.
Prof. Guenther graduated from the University of Muenster, where he received his MD, and was trained at the Trauma Department, Hannover Medical School (MHH), Germany. He performed two one-year fellowships at the Helios ENDO-Klinik Hamburg, Germany and at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. In addition, he was a fellow of the Schulthess Clinic, Zurich, Switzerland and the Methodist Hospital - The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, Houston, Texas, USA.
Prof. Guenther is a member of ISAKOS, ESSKA, ESSKA-ESMA, ESSKA-EKA, AGA, DKG, GOTS, DGSP, DGOU, DGOOC, and DGU. He serves on the Scientific Committee of ISAKOS, the Research Committee of AGA, the Ligament Committee of DKG, and the German clinical tissue regeneration study group of DGU. He is a member of the ACL Study Group.
He is a certified arthroscopist of the AGA, certified Knee Surgeon of the DKG, and a provider of Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
Prof. Guenther was granted his “Venia legendi” in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery in 2017. He received multiple awards for his research and peer review work worldwide and was placed in the top 1% of reviewers in Clinical Medicine according to the Publons Peer Review Awards 2018.
