Department of Orthopaedics, Hässleholm Hospital, Hässleholm, Sweden Hässleholm SWEDEN Markus Waldén, MD, PhD, is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Department of Orthopaedics, Hässleholm-Kristianstad- Hospitals, Sweden, mainly working with arthroscopic knee surgery and hip joint arthroplasty. He is a senior researcher at the Football Research Group in Linköping, Sweden, and the Division of Community Medicine, Department of Medical and Health Sciences, Linköping University. His main area of research is epidemiology and prevention of injuries in football and handball. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed original articles as well as a number of review articles, editorials and book chapters. He is a senior associate editor of the British Journal of Sports Medicine and an associate editor of the Science and Medicine in Football. He is currently the team physician for the Swedish champions in handball, IFK Kristianstad, and former team physician for the Swedish male U-19 national football team.
