Dr. Al Getgood is an Associate Professor at the University of Western Ontario and orthopaedic surgeon and clinician scientist specialising in complex knee reconstruction at the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic, London, Ontario. Dr. Getgood’s clinical practice focuses on complex soft tissue reconstruction of the knee. He has been successful in securing over 9 million dollars in peer reviewed and industry funded grants to build his pre-clinical and clinical research program focusing on complex ligament reconstruction and joint preservation. Particular achievements include being awarded the AOSSM 2019 O’Donoghue Sports Injury Award, the 2019 Jan Gillquist Award and the 2017 Albert Trillat Young Investigator award both from ISAKOS. Dr. Getgood has authored over 130 peer-reviewed articles and numerous book chapters. He has given over 175 national and international conference presentations, lectures and demonstrations. He is a member of the AOSSM Board of Directors and sits on the knee preservation committee of ISAKOS. Dr. Getgood is a member of the Herodicus Society, the ACL study group, ICRS and ESSKA. He will be ACL study group program chair in 2022, and will be deputy program chair and program chair for ISAKOS in 2023 and 2025 respectively.
