ISAKOS eNewsletters   eNewsletter Article 2026   Not yet rated

Dear ISAKOS Members and Friends,

In 2025, ISAKOS continued its mission to advance orthopaedic knowledge, innovation, and patient care, culminating in the ISAKOS Meeting in Munich. We invite you to review the metrics illustrating the global impact of ISAKOS in 2025 at isakos.com/SupportISAKOS/Impact.

For the ISAKOS Editorial Team, 2025 was a highly impactful year, with the ISAKOS Newsletter evolving from the traditional cadence of two issues per year to three digital issues per year, expanding both its reach and relevance. Through the continued global collaboration and hard work of the ISAKOS committees, we are committed to enhancing the value of the eNewsletter as an engaging and efficient platform—one that delivers a valuable e-learning experience while also increasing global awareness of upcoming ISAKOS courses and activities.

It is a pleasure to present the first issue of the eNewsletter for 2026. In this issue, you will find six Current Perspective articles discussing key aspects of upper and lower extremity sports injuries along with a special report detailing the journey of the ISAKOS Global Travelling Fellows. This program took place across Europe and culminated at the ISAKOS 2025 Congress in Munich. This report captures the experiences of the Fellows as they visited the leading sports medicine centers during this transformative, career-shaping opportunity. We hope that you will enjoy reading about their journey and encourage you to support your young researchers in applying to this traveling fellowship program in the future.

The Current Perspectives in this issue address challenges in the treatment of elbow, hip, and knee injuries. For those treating knee ligament injuries, we specifically recommend the article entitled “MCL Management in Combined ACL–MCL Injuries: An Evolving Treatment Strategy,” authored by leading surgeons from the USA, the UK, and Portugal. This topic has gained increasing attention in recent years and may offer valuable insights for the management of your next ACL patient.

We also encourage you to set aside time to listen to this issue’s Current Perspective Podcast, “Hip Arthroscopy and The Innovation Cycle in the United Kingdom: Data, Drivers, and Global Context,” which explores the maturation of a unique area of surgical expertise that has important implications for training the next generation of surgeons.

Other inspiring articles in this issue address the treatment of elbow stiffness, fibrin clot preparation for augmenting biological healing in meniscus repair, intraosseous antibiotic administration in knee arthroplasty, and strategies to enhance orthopedic care in emerging countries. Finally, don't miss the 5-in-1 videos, which provide a dynamic way to quickly explore the eNewsletter Current Perspective articles at a glance before diving deeper into the topics that spark your interest.

We would also like to share an update regarding the Quick Quiz feature. After reviewing the responses submitted by ISAKOS members during 2025, we have refined the format. Beginning this year, the Quiz will focus specifically on the featured Podcast article rather than on all of the articles in the issue. We believe this change will encourage broader participation and make the experience even more engaging. We invite you to take part—submit your answers to the Quiz, and you may be selected as an ISAKOS member for a Podcast interview with the Editorial Team, which could become another meaningful milestone in advancing your career.

As always, please stay tuned, follow ISAKOS Podcasts and educational videos, and enjoy your ISAKOS learning experience—wherever you are.

Sincerely yours,
