A high surgical volume unit and a world-class research centre, built on two equally weighted pillars: arthroscopic sports and preservation surgery, and robotic knee arthroplasty — total and partial.
Few knee fellowships give you both halves of the specialty. This one does, in a single university unit, at volume.
Sports and preservation. ACL and revision ACL reconstruction, including slope-reducing osteotomy, multiligament reconstruction, meniscal repair and root repair, cartilage procedures, deformity correction and periarticular knee trauma.
Arthroplasty. Robotic-assisted unicompartmental and total knee replacement, complex primary and revision surgery, and combined ligament reconstruction and arthroplasty.
3D planning and patient-specific instrumentation run across both — from osteotomy cuts to implant positioning — as routine practice rather than showcase technology.
The philosophy is preservation first, replacement when it is the right answer. The fellow sees both decisions in the same clinic, in the same week — which is exactly the judgement a modern knee surgeon has to build.
Research is embedded, not optional: at least one publishable project, presented at an international meeting. Two days operating, two days clinic, one day research per week. Working language English. Duration flexible, 3 to 12 months.
