Contribute to the overall education and research activities of ISAKOS as required and requested.

Body of Work: This committee is about the treatment of the degenerative knee – focused mainly about arthroplasty and revision arthroplasty.

Charges

The following charges are the 2025 - 2027 committee term.

  • Awards & Fellowships
    • Determine the selection of the winner of the Paolo Aglietti Award for Knee Arthroplasty.
  • Congress
    • Alongside the Traveling Fellowship Committee, determine the selection of the two winners of the Knee Arthroplasty Traveling Fellowship.
    • Collaborate with Program Chair and Deputy Chair on innovations and new technologies that can be implemented at the 2027 Congress in Sydney.
    • Develop scientific session proposals for the Biennial ISAKOS Congress related to Knee: Arthroplasty; Committee will be responsible to propose topics, session chairs and a balanced faculty, in collaboration with the Program Chair and ISAKOS Office.
    • Review and grade abstracts for the Biennial ISAKOS Congress related to Knee Arthroplasty.
  • Global Link
    • Assist in the management, review, and organization of ISAKOS Global Link content related to Knee: Arthroplasty, to maximize value of this education portal for ISAKOS members and subscribers.
  • Journal of ISAKOS
    • Provide articles to the Journal of ISAKOS, as requested by the JISAKOS Editorial Board.
    • Serve as article reviewers on an as needed basis for Journal of ISAKOS.
  • Publications
    • Prepare and submit at least one article, annually, for the ISAKOS eNewsletter; for possible inclusion within the 2026 and 2027 calendar years.
  • Strategic Plan
    • Advance the fulfillment / achievement of the ISAKOS Strategic Plan. Consider with all Committee initiatives, how projects will assist in the accomplishment of the ISAKOS Strategic Plan.
    • Expand the KA Committee’s planned targeted survey of knee arthroplasty specialists to include questions about what they want for resources, training, education, etc., identifying needs/gaps.
    • Partner with EKS, ESSKA, AAHKS, and other continental knee societies to engage the most recognized experts in knee arthroplasty.
    • Pilot streaming a recorded or live surgery broadcast, as an ISAKOS webinar offering.
    • Work with the Executive Committee to determine future target audiences for IKAF, as well as metrics, and measures of success.
