The following charges are the 2025 - 2027 committee term.
- Awards & Fellowships
- Select the winner for the Jan Gillquist Scientific Research Grant at the ISAKOS Congress and coordinate the presentation at the awards ceremony.
- Select the winners for the Young Investigator’s Scholarship and Research Mentoring Program Part I finalists and Part II winners and coordinate the presentation at the awards ceremony. Work with Traveling Fellowship Committee to coordinate mentoring and t
- Congress
- Collaborate with Program Chair and Deputy Chair on innovations and new technologies that can be implemented at the 2027 Congress in Sydney.
- Develop scientific session proposals for the Biennial ISAKOS Congress related to Scientific Research; Committee will be responsible to propose topics, session chairs and a balanced faculty, in collaboration with the Program Chair and ISAKOS Office.
- Review and grade abstracts for the Biennial ISAKOS Congress related to Scientific Research.
- Global Link
- Assist in the management, review, and organization of ISAKOS Global Link content related to Scientific Research, to maximize value of this education portal for ISAKOS members and subscribers.
- Journal of ISAKOS
- Provide articles to the Journal of ISAKOS, as requested by the JISAKOS Editorial Board.
- Serve as article reviewers on an as needed basis for Journal of ISAKOS.
- Publications
- Prepare and submit at least one article, annually, for the ISAKOS eNewsletter; for possible inclusion within the 2026 and 2027 calendar years.
- Research & Education
- Administer and refine a process of application and methodology to evaluate applications for ISAKOS funding for research projects to include New Researcher, Translational Research, Clinical Outcomes, and Countries with Limited Resources. Monitor reporting
- Focus efforts on underdeveloped, low- to middle-income, and non English-speaking areas to achieve more inclusivity and help advance research in those communities.
- Review the current ISAKOS research grant portfolio and make any necessary revisions; continue to support valid research that is worthwhile for the ISAKOS community, which otherwise wouldn’t be feasible without ISAKOS’s support.
- Strategic Plan
- Advance the fulfillment/achievement of the ISAKOS Strategic Plan. Consider with all Committee initiatives how projects will assist in the accomplishment of the ISAKOS Strategic Plan.
- Establish a research environment that nurtures innovative thinking and provides the essential infrastructure for groundbreaking work.
- Explore creating an ISAKOS University Research Lab as a think tank to foster ideas from surgeons globally and guide them into reality, providing infrastructure and partnerships typically only found at universities.
- Selectively invest in research initiatives that promise clear benefits for the ISAKOS community, prioritizing fields of interest.
