Ruiz Ibán is currently the head of the Shoulder and Elbow Unit in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology in Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal, in Madrid, Spain. He is associate professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, where he completed his PhD studies. He received his medical degree in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and completed the Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program at Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal. His current research interests include both basic and clinical research in shoulder surgery. His shoulder research currently focuses in epidemiology and outcomes of shoulder instability surgery, arthroplasty and rotator cuff disease.
