The WAKAMATSU HOSPITAL Sports Medicine Fellowship Program is a one year Knee, Shoulder, elbow, and Hip Sports Medicine Fellowship. The foreigner fellows can participate in what they want to learn that allows each physician to garner experience in a variety of orthopaedic sports medicine specialties. The twelve months of sports medicine training consist of seeing patients in the Clinic, assisting in surgery. Our physicians who participate in the fellowship program perform approximately 800 surgeries per year. The Clinic serves recreational and elite athletes and patients from Fukuoka prefecture, across Japan, and around the world.

Recent activity of Teaching Center: Research Projects Each fellow can complete one original research project that is suitable for publication in a peer reviewed journal prior to completion of the fellowship. These findings are also presented at the end of the year at the Scientific Advisory Committee meeting.

Financial Support and Expenses

Other support that the Teaching Center can provide: The teaching center can help fellows to apply for some fellowship funds.
Estimate of Living Expenses (Housing and other major costs): Housing is available Guest house It takes about 45 minutes to go to hospital.( 15 minutes walk to Orio station, 15 minutes train to Wakamatsu station and 10 minutes walk to the hospital). Many fellows found it is comfortable and affordable. Rental cost is around 31000 yen per month, utilities is roughly 10000 to 12000 depending on usage. Train cost about 560yen per day.
