Other support that the Teaching Center can provide: We cover full congress attendance for all the events that are held by our organization. The approval depends on each case of fellow.
Estimate of Living Expenses (Housing and other major costs): No housing. Basic stipend is being negotiated.
Estimated living expenses:
Housing: 1200€ monthly, 500€ for a room
Transportation: 50€ maximum
Food: 100€-120€ / person for grocery goods while restaurant expenses may be between 15-50€. Although we do have a staff cafeteria which serves a daily lunch menu at 4€.

Role of the fellow with respect to Clinical, Surgical, Research, and other opportunities: The fellow will have scheduled rotations with the following units: hip and knee, shoulder and elbow, foot and ankle involving the following faculty members: Eduard Alentorn-Geli, Pedro Álvarez-Díaz, David Barastegui, Ramón Cugat, Xavier Cuscó, and Roberto Seijas. During the 12-month fellowship, there will be three 2-month rotations with pairs of faculty member, twice (two rounds of 6-months rotations), so that each fellow get the chance to work with each faculty member twice. A detailed schedule of rotations will be given to the fellow at the beginning of the fellowship. Fellows will be provided with research time during the fellowship. A minimum of 6 peer-review, Indexed-journal, research articles is required at the end of the 1-year fellowship.

Instituto Cugat is the Center for Orthopedic Surgery and Trauma of Hospital Quironsalud Barcelona which provides one of the most modern services, ammenities and facitlities including 14 operating theatres and imaging diagnostic department (CAT, MRI, CT-PET, linear accelerator, hybrid x-ray, digital mammogram).
With regards to research facilities, although there is none within the premises, Instituto Cugat conducts all research activities through their Foundation (Fundación García Cugat) and their affiliate centers such as CEU-Cardenal Herrera University and Cordoba University to name a few.
Fellows will be involved in Clinical and Research activities. The roles of the Fellow include:
- Undertake Specialist Surgical Training in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine related injuries by being part of Instituto Cugat.
- Perform basic and advanced surgical procedures related to Orthopedic Sports Medicine.
- Assist in the day to day running of the unit. In particular the fellow must ensure the smooth running of the operating room lists.
- Continue the gathering of clinical information for the Institute's database. This includes the pre-operative assessment of patients as well as data collection in peri- and post-operative settings.
- Improve the diagnostic ability for hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, foot and ankle conditions in the outpatient clinic.
- Elaborate a treatment plan for each of the joint conditions seen in the outpatient clinic.
- Assist with out-patients department and clinics.
- Contribute to ongoing research projects or create new ones.
- Contribute in Book Chapters and other educational projects.
- Assist in power point/keynotes presentations and video creation.
- Facilitate in the smooth running of Instituto Cugat´s meetings and courses.
- Bring new ideas and innovations to the department so that the institute can evolve.
- Doing weekend in-patient rounds in a rotatory schedule
- The older fellows will introduce and teach the new fellows about the roles and activities in Instituto Cugat.
Related Conference/Lecture Schedule: All activities are annual events.
Thirteen editions of the International Congress of the García Cugat Foundation were held. Currently, it is held once every two years.
PCL Summit - 2025 will be the 8th event. It is held every two years.
ACL Injury in Female Football Players Congress - We have celebrated 3 editions until 2024. From now on, it will be held every two years.
We perform monthly scientific meetings to discuss ongoing research projects and relevant clinical cases.
Twice a year, we organize two-days training sessions on different topics related to Orthopaedics.
