The teaching center has been created in 2005 and it is part of the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg, Luxembourg’s major public hospital (www.sportsmedicine-chl.lu). It is located in the northern part of the City of Luxembourg and is easily accessible by public transportation. Its main specificity is the interdisciplinary functioning covering all major aspects of orthopaedics and sports medicine (operative and nonoperative orthopaedic surgery, internistic sports medicine and exercise physiology as well as sports physiotherapy). In 2008 it was accredited as Luxembourg Olympic Medical Center by the Luxembourgish Olympic Committee (COSL). It has a privileged partnership with the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and Luxembourg Institute of Research in Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Science (LIROMS) and is recognised since 2018 as one of the research centres of excellence recognised by the International Olympic Committee.

Financial Support and Expenses

Types of Financial Support Available: Housing is provided, A stipend is provided
Other support that the Teaching Center can provide: A room at the room can be proposed to the fellow upon request and availabilities. A stipend may also be provided depending on ongoing projects and involvement in research activities.
Estimate of Living Expenses (Housing and other major costs): A room at the room can be proposed to the fellow upon request and availabilities. Public transport are free in the country and preferential prices are proposed for meals on site (<10 euros per day).

Role of the fellow with respect to Clinical, Surgical, Research, and other opportunities: Clinical research fellowship including assistance in surgical procedures, ward rounds, staff meetings. Participation in research project and a minimum of one publication is requested per 6 months.

Research projects, research facilities and resources, cadaver labs, publication opportunities, integration of the patient and public involvement, and the role of the fellow: The center concentrates its activities on the following reasearch areas: sports medicine epidemiology, injury prevention, biomechanics, imaging, clinical research. The fellow should contact Prof.Seil and Dr. Caroline Mouton (mouton.caroline@chl.lu), scientific coordinator of the department to identify a research project.
Related Conference/Lecture Schedule: Daily bedside teaching; weekly sports medicine staff meetings; monthly sports medicine conferences; annual regional sports medicine congress. Several visiting professionals / year.
