The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Pihlajalinna Hospital Tampere has a team of 15 orthopaedic surgeons. Teaching activity includes everything around the knee; arthroscopy, ACL/PCL, multiligamentous injuries, especially patellofemoral surgery (MPFL, trochleaplasty), osteotomies, cartilage repair and joint replacements.

Types of Educational Opportunities: Scrub in for surgery, Assist in clinics under supervision, Receive hands-on training, Assist with research, Publishing opportunities
Research projects, research facilities and resources, cadaver labs, publication opportunities, integration of the patient and public involvement, and the role of the fellow: Several ongoing research projects in patellofemoral diseases and patellofemoral surgery, knee dislocations and osteotomies around the knee. The fellow will be introduced to the projects and if willing, may be offered to participate a study.
Related Conference/Lecture Schedule: Radiographic meetings, Academic orthopaedic meetings, Knee meetings monthly, knee and orthopaedic sports medicine cadaver courses occasionally in nearby Surgical Education Centre facilities.
Athletic Team Coverage: Local and national ice-hockey team. Football team. Floorball and Basketball - all major athletic teams in Tampere region.
