Vishal Sundaram is a fourth-year medical student and aspiring orthopaedic surgeon at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine in New York, NY, currently completing a dedicated research year under the mentorship of Dr. Eric Strauss in the NYU Division of Sports Medicine. He completed his undergraduate training at Cornell University with a major in chemistry and minors in mathematics and global health, graduating in the top 1% of his class. During the past year, Vishal has focused on applying advanced statistical techniques to investigate the relationship between the synovial fluid inflammatory environment and patient outcomes after knee surgery. He is honored to be able to present this work to the international orthopedic community and hopes it can one day improve our ability to prevent and treat post-traumatic degenerative joint disease.
