Dr. Huard is the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and Director of the Center for Regenerative & Personalized Medicine (CRPM) at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute (SPRI) in Vail, Colorado. Dr. Huard holds an Affiliate Faculty position in the Department of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University. From 2015-2019, Dr. Huard was Professor, Distinguished Chair in Orthopaedic Research in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). Between 1995-2015, Dr. Huard held the Henry J. Mankin Endowed Chair in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and was the Director of the Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC) at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Huard’s team has published over 430 peer-reviewed papers, over 90 reviews/book chapters, and over 900 abstracts at scientific conferences with Google Scholar Citations: 45376; h-index:112, i10-index: 376). The Huard lab focuses on 4 different categories, including Biologics (PRP and adult stem cells derived from muscle, adipose, and bone marrow); Regenerative Medicine approaches (gene therapy, CRISPR-Cas9, Coacervate, Microspheres, PA-nanofibers, and magnetic nanoparticle technologies); Therapeutics (FDA approved anti-fibrotic agents, pro-angiogenic agents, telomerase activity, (hTERT), senolytic and senomorphic drugs); and Animal Modelling (dystrophic and progeria, super healer (MRL/MpJ), osteoarthritis model/microfracture, tibia fracture, calvarial defect, and ovariectomy models). Dr. Huard’s laboratory is highly funded with 8 NIH grants, 2 DoD contracts, 5 DOD/NIH sponsored clinical trials, and philanthropic funding. Dr. Huard’s research has received over 90 honors and awards, including the AOSSM Cabaud Memorial and 3M Award, numerous ORS NIRA, AAOS Kappa Delta awards (2004,2018), Ortho-Regeneration, an Honorary Doctorate Degree (University of Rimouski) and many others.
