Franco Della Vedova, MD is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and knee arthroscopic surgery, as well as sports and regenerative medicine. He practices at the Instituto Dr. Jaime Slullitel and Hospital Italiano Rosario, both located in Rosario, Argentina, which are recognized as some of the most prestigious orthopaedic centers in the country. He earned his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional de Rosario and completed his residency and fellowship in arthroscopic and sports medicine at the Dr. Jaime Slullitel Institute. Additionally, he has pursued advanced training in sports medicine through several traveling fellowships, including one at the University of Miami and at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Della Vedova has been actively involved in various scientific societies and currently serves as a member of the Sports Medicine Committee and the Biologics and Young Professional Task Force of ISAKOS (International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine). He is also the chair of the Media Committee and a member of the Orthobiologics Committee of SLARD (Latin American Society of Arthroscopy, Joint Reconstruction, and Sports Traumatology). Furthermore, he holds the position of Scientific Director for the Argentine Association of Orthopedic Sports Traumatology (AATD) and is the Vice President of ATOBA (Asociación de Terapias Ortobiológicas de Argentina), a new scientific association dedicated to the proper development and application of regenerative therapies in Argentina. Dr. Della Vedova is dedicated to training residents in Orthopedics and fellows in Sports Medicine at the Dr. Jaime Slullitel Institute. He has published numerous papers in national and international journals and has received several accolades. Dr. Della Vedova has developed a specialization in caring for rugby players while continuing to be actively involved in the sport. He dedicated a significant portion of his practice to rugby, serving as the team physician for the Jaguares, Argentina’s professional Super Rugby team, and for Los Pumas (the Argentine national team). He is also the Medical Director of the Rosario Rugby Union, where he was the head medical manager for the 2019 Under-20 Rugby World Cup held in Rosario, Argentina, and acted as medical coordinator for the Rosario - South American Youth Games in 2022. Currently, he is increasingly focusing on researching and utilizing orthobiologic therapies while maintaining his dedication to regenerative treatments such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and other techniques aimed at enhancing healing and recovery for patients with sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions. His active participation in various scientific committees, underscores his commitment to advancing regenerative and sports medicine in Argentina.
