Arthroscopic ACL Reconstruction with Peroneus Longus Graft In Osteogenesis Imperfecta

Abstract

Osteogenesis imperfecta is genetical condition characterised fragile bones which break easily.
Our case is a 29-year-old male,4 feet 5 inches in height and 35 kgs in weight with history of trauma 1.5 years back having complete ACL tear and concomitant patella fracture, was operated for patella TBW and encirclage and rehabilitation for ACL tear. Patella implants were removed 6 months back, and now complaint of instability of left knee.
ACL tear in such patients is uncommon so is its reconstruction. In our case we opted for Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction with peroneus longus graft

Results-
Osteogenesis imperfecta is a rare condition. ACL tear in such cases presents with challenging scenario which need meticulous pre op planning and patient counselling. In our experience peroneus longus graft is found to be viable option given its ease of harvesting and adequate graft diameter and length in such scenarios where hamstrings tendons might not prove sufficient for stability.
